There have been updates and releases to several browsers this month. So here is a quick comparison about how they pan out. The browsers are IE9 vs Chrome 10 vs Firefox 4 vs Opera 11.01 vs Safari 5. These are the versions tested.

Benchmark Test #1: Sunspider
What is the Sunspider Test? This benchmark tests the core JavaScript language only, not the DOM or other browser APIs. It is designed to compare different versions of the same browser, and different browsers to each other.
Best: IE9 32 Bit
Worst: IE9 64 Bit
Benchmark Test #2: V8
What this bench mark tests: This test measures JavaScript speed for rich Web applications. The new V8 code, improves JavaScript load speed. Chrome includes the V8 code and the other browsers do not.
Best: Chrome10
Worst: IE9 64 Bit
Benchmark Test #3: Peacekeeper
What this benchmark tests: Peacekeeper measures a browser’s performance by testing its JavaScript functionality. By measuring a browser’s ability to handle commonly used JavaScript functions Peacekeeper can evaluate its performance.
Best: Chrome 10
Worst: Firefox 4
Benchmark Test #4
What this benchmark tests: Kraken was put forward by Mozilla and it focuses on realistic workloads and forward-looking applications. It tests Mozilla’s new beat detection scripts, which uses experimental audio APIs, and image processing tools like the ones that apply a Gaussian blur or desaturate a JPG using JavaScript.

Worst: IE9 64 Bit
Summary
Overall, the loser is IE9 64 Bit. And the Winner is more like a tie, although Chrome 10 did win 2 out of 4 test, but the rest were fairly close. Which should you use? I personally like Google because of its speed and the way it picks up on letters to form words, especially when the url code is available. I also use Opera. I have installed a version of IE9 64 bit, but it is very slow, so I don’t recommend it.
